Tandem Player 1.3.3
================

Thanks for trying Tandem Player.

This one download is both the free version and the full version.
Without a key it runs as the free version. A licence key unlocks
the full version in the same folder, with nothing new to download.

GETTING STARTED

1. Unzip first. Right-click the zip, choose "Extract All...", and
run the app from the extracted folder, not from inside the zip.
Keep this whole folder together and put it anywhere on this PC
you like (Documents, a games drive, an external disk - it does
   not matter).
2. Run TandemPlayer.exe.
Windows may show a blue box, "Windows protected your PC". That
is SmartScreen: it shows for apps from small publishers it has
not seen much of yet. Click "More info", then "Run anyway". It
   asks once.
3. Bought a key? Click Settings (top left, in the same row as
"Add folder...") and choose "Enter licence key...".
Paste the key from your order. Unlocking asks the licence
server. If it cannot be reached, the key unlocks anyway for
seven days, and Tandem tries again each time it starts -
sending the key again until the server answers. Once it has
answered, the unlock is checked against a file on your own
PC. WHAT TANDEM SENDS, below, says what that file is and how
   long it lasts.
4. Click "Add folder..." and pick the folder your videos live in.

YOUR KEY, AND WHICH PC IT IS ON

Keep your licence key. You will need it again if you reinstall or
move to another PC.

The key works on one PC. Moving it to a different one means
pasting the same key on the new PC - there is nothing to
deactivate or hand back first. The first move is free, and after
that a move waits 30 days.

What remembers the unlock is a file in your Windows user profile,
not a file in this folder. So the folder travels fine on a stick,
but plugging it into a second PC asks that PC for the key rather
than carrying the unlock over to it.

Buying this as a gift? Paste it in and test it if you want to.
Because the first move is free, their PC takes the key straight
off yours. It is the move after that one which waits 30 days.

WANT A SHORTCUT?

Right-click TandemPlayer.exe, choose "Show more options" if you are
on Windows 11, then "Send to" and "Desktop (create shortcut)".

WHAT IT DOES

- Plays your own videos with their .funscript files, including
multi-axis companions (name.twist.funscript and so on).
- Drives an SR6/OSR2 over serial or UDP T-Code, plus devices on
  Intiface/Buttplug, The Handy, and Autoblow.
- Library browsing with thumbnails, search and filters.
- Live stroke shaping: peak boost, depth, reach, intensity.
- A region editor for reshaping parts of a script, and export.
- A phone remote and in-headset VR playback over your own network.
- Twenty-eight appearance presets - colour, buttons, decoration,
font and text size - and a theme editor for building your own
look out of fourteen colours and sharing it as a block of text.
- Five languages: English, Traditional and Simplified Chinese,
  Korean and Japanese.
- Safety Mode: an optional password, asked for on each launch
  before your library is drawn.

Free and full: without a key, the library, playback, every device
type, the intensity strip, the headset and all five languages
work. Top and Bottom reach are locked, Depth stops at 1.2x, Speed
stops at 1.25x, you get one custom axis instead of seven, and four
of the twenty-eight appearance presets, with none of the pickers
and no theme editor. Motion presets, the region editor, export,
Safety Mode and the anime / live action tagging - its badges,
its three library filters and the guess-from-thumbnail sweep -
need a key.

REQUIREMENTS

Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. Nothing to install and no runtime to
add - the folder is self-contained.

WHAT TANDEM SENDS, AND WHEN

Unlocking sends the licence key itself to the licence server,
with a one-way code for this PC, and gets back a file that is
kept in your Windows profile. It is good for a year, and while
it is, that file is what each launch checks, without sending
your key again. A launch with no valid file to check sends the
key again instead - after an unlock that could not reach the
server, for instance, or a year that ran out. Both are below.

Then, once per launch and about half a minute in, Tandem asks
the server whether your key has been moved to another PC. That
request carries a 12-character licence reference and the same
one-way code for this PC - not the key, never a filename, never
anything about what you play. If it cannot reach the server - no
connection, a firewall, the server down - nothing changes and
the app carries on as normal.

That same check is what collects the next year. Once the file
is inside its last two months, the check also asks for a fresh
one, and the server signs it for this PC. You are not asked
anything and nothing is shown. One launch that reaches the
server and stays open half a minute, at any point in those two
months, moves the year forward - so in normal use you do not
reach the end of it.

If nothing gets through across that whole two months, the year
does run out. Tandem keeps working for seven more days, and
tries again each time it starts - sending the key again, the
way the first unlock did - then goes back to the free build
until the next launch that reaches the server, which unlocks
it again. Your key and your settings are untouched either way.

If the server cannot be reached while you are unlocking in the
first place, Tandem unlocks anyway for a week and tries again
each time it starts - sending the key again until one of those
launches gets through. Sorting out the connection ends that. If
the week runs out with still no connection, Tandem goes back to
the free build until a launch that gets through.

Devices differ, and two of them are not local. The Handy and
Autoblow are driven through their makers' own cloud services, so
playing to either one sends the motion out to them: the Handy's
a few seconds ahead for as long as it plays, the Autoblow's as
the whole stroke line at once, which its own player then follows
in time with the video. Serial, UDP and Intiface devices are
driven straight from this PC, over your own cable or your own
network.

One more, in the headset: a scene you have no script for can be
looked up at a script source — one site you add yourself, by
typing its address and signing in. There is none to begin with,
so a fresh install looks nothing up anywhere. Once you have
added one, the lookup runs on its own, with a switch beside it
in VR settings. Adding one needs a licence.
